Prefects' Trip to St Mary’s Karonga Girls' Secondary School

On May 14, 2026, prefects from Wasambo Boys High School embarked on a memorable journey to St Mary’s Karonga Girls Secondary School. The trip began early in the morning, with the team setting off at 8:00 AM and arriving just before 11:00 AM.

The purpose of the visit was clear: to exchange knowledge and strengthen leadership skills. Prefects from both schools came together to share ideas on discipline, cleanliness, and effective communication, with a particular focus on promoting English speaking. These discussions, organized by department, provided valuable insights into how prefects can conduct themselves and fulfil their duties with excellence.

Upon arrival, the Wasambo prefects were warmly welcomed by their peers at St Mary’s. The atmosphere was filled with morale and camaraderie as the students gathered in the hall for group discussions. Later, the Wasambo prefects had the opportunity to tour the St Mary’s campus, appreciating its beauty and learning from the environment.

The day concluded with presentations, where each group shared the outcomes of their discussions. Lunch followed, offering a chance for prefects from both schools to interact more informally and build friendships. By the end of the trip, the Wasambo prefects returned back to Wasambo Campus safely, filled with gratitude and joy.

This experience was more than just a visit; it was a lesson in leadership. The prefects learned the importance of self‑discipline, cleanliness, and teamwork. They also gained strategies that can be adopted at Wasambo Boys High School to help the institution reach greater heights.

The trip to St Mary’s Karonga Girls Secondary School stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and shared learning. It reminded our prefects that leadership is not only about responsibility but also about growth, humility, and the willingness to learn from others.
